Though not presented until the Parish Assembly in May the Council has begun the process of seeking nominations for its annual Community Awards. These awards were instituted in 2005 and are intended to provide a means of giving public recognition to individuals and organisations who have made an exceptional voluntary civic contribution to the town or its residents.

At its meeting on 19 January the Council formally resolved to adopt the new Power of Well-Being. In order to be eligible to exercise the Power the Council had to meet a number of conditions including having a qualified Clerk and at least 80% of Councillors trained in the use of the new Power.

The Council has now been offered a grant by Rother District Council to help with the provision of this car park. It is hoped that the project will be completed early in the new year and will be of benefit to users of the recreation ground.

The Town Council successfully bid for a grant from the District Council to provide new, exciting and challenging play equipment based on the theme "adventure through climbing". The final choice of equipment took account of the views of young people. It is hoped that the new equipment will be in place by the end of March.
